Exporting, Sharing, and Importing the Canvas
To share your Canvas or incorporate it into a presentation, you now have two options: exporting the Canvas as a JSON file for easy import into any workspace in the platform, or capturing a visual snapshot of the Canvas.
Option 1: Export as JSON File
If you prefer to reuse your Canvas in different workspaces, export it as a JSON file. This will allow you to import the Canvas into any workspace seamlessly. Simply click the 'Export for Data Transfer (JSON)' item in the Canvas menu, and a JSON file will be downloaded to your device. You can then upload it to another workspace for easy integration.
Option 2: Visual Snapshot (Screenshot)
To include your Canvas in a presentation or share it with others as a visual, you can take a screenshot of the Canvas webpage. Here's how:
Zooming Out for a Better View
If your Canvas contains a lot of content and needs to be displayed in a more compact form, you can zoom out to capture the entire page in one screenshot. Follow these steps depending on your device:
- On Mac:
- Press Command + Minus (-) to zoom out.
To take a screenshot, press Command + Shift + 4, then select the area you want to capture.
On Windows:
- Hold Ctrl and press Minus (-) to zoom out.
- To take a screenshot, press Windows + Shift + S, then select the area you want to capture.
Once the webpage is zoomed out, you can capture the entire Canvas in a single image, making it perfect for sharing in presentations or other documents.
Print to PDF
You may find that using your browser's Print to PDF option works the best for exporting your Canvas. Here are a few guides on how to use Print to PDF depending on your browser:
Tips for Managing Large Canvases
If your Canvas contains a lot of information, it may not render perfectly when exported as a visual snapshot, especially if you need to scroll to view all the content. You may notice some overlapping in your screenshot, but all your data will still be captured. To avoid this, resize and zoom out the Canvas to ensure everything fits within the screenshot.
Viewing and Exporting Past Versions
To track the evolution of your Canvas, you can view past versions. In the top-right corner above the Customer Segments section, there's a menu that allows you to switch between the current and previous versions. Use the slider to scroll through different dates or use the drop down menu to jump to a specific time in your cohort and see how the Canvas has changed over time.
If you're viewing an older version, you'll see an blue outline around the Canvas and a lock icon next to the slider indicating the Canvas is locked. Click the lock icon to reset the Canvas to the current version and enable editing.
Importing the Downloaded Canvas
If you export your Canvas as a JSON file, you can easily import it into any workspace on the platform to continue your work.
In the Canvas menu click on the 'Import Canvas (JSON)' item. Then select the JSON file from your computer to import.
