Creating Insights

Understanding the Purpose of Insights in Your Canvas Hypotheses

Insights are powerful annotations derived from your interview notes and transcriptions, designed to help you validate or invalidate your canvas hypotheses. These insights capture crucial evidence that you can organize and link directly to specific hypotheses on your canvas, giving you a clear picture of how your customer conversations impact your assumptions.

When you begin reviewing your interviews, our AI tool will automatically generate some initial insights for you. These insights serve as a starting point, highlighting key information that may support or challenge your hypotheses. As you continue, you’ll likely uncover additional insights that deepen your understanding and provide further evidence.

How to Create and Use Insights

  • Creating an Insight:
    1. Highlight Text: Select a section of your transcription or notes by highlighting the text. As soon as you release the mouse button, the selected text will appear in the Insight panel at the top right.
    2. Link to Hypotheses: Choose a segment on your canvas and link the insight to one or more hypotheses. Indicate whether the insight supports or challenges the hypothesis by clicking the thumbs up or thumbs down icon.
    3. Add a Comment and Tag: Provide a comment to capture your thoughts and select a tag to help organize your insights. Tags are fully editable, allowing you to customize them to better fit the context of your discoveries. Learn more about managing tags.
    4. Prioritize: If your insight is actionable and you'd like to prioritize it, select a prioritization level.
    5. Save Your Insight: Click 'Save' to add the new insight to your list. You'll see it appear in the lower right corner of the window.

The new Insight will now appear in the Insights list. When you hover over the Insight in the list you will have the option to delete the Insight and play the audio if the Insight is from a transcription.

Why Insights Matter

Tracking insights from your interviews allows you to easily reference and share critical impact statements from your customer conversations. This ensures you never lose sight of the actual voice of the customer, keeping your decision-making process grounded in real-world evidence.

All your insights, whether generated by our AI or discovered by you, are collected in the Insights View. Here, you can review, manage, and refine them to ensure they accurately reflect the feedback you've gathered.

With the expanded and customizable tags, you now have even greater flexibility to categorize and organize your insights in a way that best supports your process.

By leveraging insights, you can systematically evaluate the evidence supporting or refuting your hypotheses, making your canvas a dynamic and actionable tool in your customer discovery process.
